Breakfast. In the morning, departure for the Full Day Perito Moreno Glacier excursion. After traveling 80 km, we arrived at the Los Glaciares National Park. This park has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The glaciers that make up the national park are 47 in total.
The most famous is the Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the extreme south-west of Lake Argentino. This glacier is one of the few in the world in advance. This has made it one of the greatest natural spectacles in South America. Every so often, its front of 60 m. of height it detaches great walls of ice like buildings that fall to the waters of the Rich Arm or of the Channel of the Ice floes, soon to leave navigating by the Channel towards the main body of the lake. But that is not all. The glacier, when advancing, approaches the Magallanes Peninsula, on the opposite side of the lake and point of the sector of walkways and lookouts. The cycle takes 4 to 6 years and ends by dividing the lake into two.
The Rico Arm is dammed and rises above its level by approximately 35 meters. The waters slowly pierce a tunnel in front of the glacier until the pressure causes it to collapse. The show is indescribable. The waters are precipitated in giant waves, and then start the whole process again.
At about 5:00 PM back to the hotel. Accommodation.
